Advisory Groups

NACCHO's advisory groups are made up of members from the local health departments across the country in order to engage them in NACCHO's vision for public health.  NACCHO's vision is 'health, equity, and well-being for all people in their  communities through public health policies and service'.

By getting involved with NACCHO's advisory groups members have the opportunity to work with their peers, network at a national level and they are a vehicle for members to influence the organization operation direction through their expertise and experience.

NACCHO has four different types of advisory groups: Essential Services Committee (ESC), Strategic Direction Team (SDT), Workgroup and Standing Committee.  Each advisory group performs a certain role  for the association.  Their roles are as follows:

  • The Essential Services Committee and Strategic Direction Team assures that NACCHO's work is aligned with the current strategic plan.
  • NACCHO's Workgroups serve in an advisory capacity for NACCHO projects.
  • The primary responsibilities of the Standing Committees are to ensure NACCHO's effective operation as a membership association and to enhance NACCHO's infrastructure to achieve its mission.
In order to execute these roles, each advisory group has a set list of responsibilities and expectations for member, chair and liaisons.
