NACCHO Recommendations for Health Reform Implementation


 
NACCHO has submitted recommendations for how various aspects of the health reform law should be implemented to improve health and strengthen local health departments.

Prevention and Public Health Fund

The newly-created Prevention and Public Health Fund (PPHF) provides $15 billion over 10 years in mandatory funding for prevention and public health programs.

National Prevention Strategy

The National Prevention Council, consisting of the heads of governmental departments and chaired by the surgeon general, released the National Prevention Strategy on June 16, 2011.

The U.S. Surgeon General released a National Prevention Council Action Plan in June 2012.
