Hurricane Sandy offers a unique opportunity for public health and emergency preparedness to study, learn from, and incorporate lessons learned to increase readiness for future hurricane and other catastrophic disaster events of this magnitude. Participants will engage in a roundtable discussion about health departments’ experiences and how demands were managed and coped with before, during, and after Hurricane Sandy. This webinar will be streamed live on the NCDP website on the day of the event.
Participating health departments include New York City, Putnam, Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, and Rockland counties. Introductory remarks will be made by Dr. Irwin Redlener, Director of the National Center of Disaster Preparedness and Dr. Linda Fried, Dean of the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. The roundtable will be moderated by Dr. David Abramson, Deputy Director of NCDP.
