Conference Track:
Best Practices and Their Impact on the Six Winnable Battles

The challenges of the H1N1 vaccination effort were greater than one agency could handle. The Greater Somerset Public Health Partnership (GSPHP), a group of eight local health departments serving 360,000 New Jersey residents, recognized early on that a collaborative response was essential to plan, implement, and evaluate local mass immunization efforts. The GSPHP applied the concepts of quality improvement model “Plan-Do-Study-Act,” and embraced a collaborative leadership approach, pooling resources to collectively plan and implement a multi-municipality vaccination effort. This collaborative leadership and quality improvement process helped ensure that uniform best practices were applied during each of the 35 plus clinics provided in the first six weeks of vaccination activity.
