NACCHO Annual 2010 Conference Highlights NACCHO Annual 2010 offered nearly 1,000 attendees a timely, practical, and interactive conference program featuring presentations from an impressive line-up of public health practitioners from around the country. Both the general sessions and the interactive sharing sessions addressed this year's popular theme, "20/20 Public Health Vision: Prevention, Equity, Leadership." | Video-Part 2 Updates & Dialogue with Federal Partners Key leaders from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) highlighted what's new with their organizations and discussed how they can partner with local health departments nationwide to create and build upon a forward-looking vision for the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
Video NACCHO Town Hall Meeting with the CDC Director The Town Hall Meeting with Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the CDC Director was an interactive forum for local health department leaders and their public health partners from around the country to hear from the nation’s top health official regarding the status of health care reform and its impact and implications for local health departments.

They addressed one of the three elements of the conference theme—Prevention, Equity, and Leadership—and the role that the three components play in creating and building upon a forward-looking vision of local public health. Prevention Equity Leadership Friday, July 16 Closing General Session: Real Heroes Don't Wear Spandex - How to Positively Impact the Lives of Others Without Wearing a Costume The Closing General Session that featured remarks from the new NACCHO President, staff and member award presentations, and a very special performance by motivational speaker, comedian, and author, Charles Marshall. His engaging topic was “Real Heroes Don’t Wear Spandex: How to positively impact the lives of others without wearing a costume.” Meet Mr. Marshall immediately following the session at a special book signing event.
