Environmental Surety is the assurance that environmental hazards to public health and the environment, such as contaminated media, epizootic disease and environmental health infrastructure failure, are managed. In Mesa County that responsibility is assigned to a number of local, state, and federal agencies.
The responding agencies have responsibility for developing specific action plans that describe their role in the response and recovery. These would include assessment risk, and defined procedures for problem resolution. In addition to legal authority for response, local committees meet on a regular basis for ongoing coordination of interjurisdictional environmental problems. This document lists the responding agencies and the committees that meet regularly to develop strategies for environmental response and protection in Mesa County.
