The Livability & Smart Growth Assessment Tools Database connects local health departments (LHDs) with basic assessment tools and checklists to evaluate their communities' degree of livability and create safer, healthier neighborhoods. This database allows users to search by community size, assessment type, user role, and six topic areas.

LHDs can also use this database to evaluate their communities as part of an effort to develop strategic plans for implementing Health in All Policies (HiAP) in their jurisdiction.
