NACCHO's Epidemiology Project helps local health departments improve their capacity to continuously and systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health-related data needed for planning, implementing, and evaluating public health practice. NACCHO leads the Epidemiology Workgroup to provide a forum for policy development, news, exchanges of information, and tools useful for epidemiologic practice at local health departments.

In the Spotlight

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists convened an expert panel to develop competencies for applied epidemiologists in governmental public health agencies. These competencies were intended to improve the practice of public health epidemiology by providing a comprehensive list of tasks that epidemiologists in government practice should be able to do.
