Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE EH)
NACCHO's Community-Based Environmental Health Assessment Process

PACE EHThrough a multi-year partnership with the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NACCHO provides technical assistance to local health departments and their constituents in conducting community-based environmental health assessments (CEHA). To this end, NACCHO developed the Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE EH), a methodology to guide local communities in identifying and addressing environmental health priorities. NACCHO is dedicated to assisting local health officials conduct CEHA.

PACE EH Online Training
The purpose of this course is to equip environmental/public health professionals with strategies for successfully using the Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE EH) guidebook, a flexible and collaborative community environmental health assessment process developed by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), with support by the National Center for Environmental Health of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. PACE EH Process Evaluation Report
In 2007, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contracted with the Battelle organization to develop a process evaluation report of NACCHO’s Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE EH). The Battelle PACE EH report highlights the success of the process and identifies targeted areas for improvement. From marketing strategies to technical assistance, the Battelle report profiles the types of communities likely to learn about and implement PACE EH, tracks technical assistance trends, and explores the intermediate impacts of PACE EH on agencies and communities. National PACE EH Summit
In 2006, NACCHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hosted a National PACE EH Summit in Louisville, KY. The meeting provided attendees with information and guidance around relevant themes arising out of the implementation of PACE EH as presented by a diverse group of speakers and experts on the process.
