Washington, DC, August 16, 2022 — Shelia Hiddleson, RN, MS, Health Commissioner for the Delaware Public Health District in Delaware, Ohio, has been newly elected to the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ (NACCHO) Board of Directors for a three-year term as a Director for Region 5, representing local health departments in IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, and WI. NACCHO is the voice of the country’s nearly 3,000 local health departments. Ms. Hiddleson’s term began on July 1, 2022.

About Ms. Hiddleson
Ms. Hiddleson currently represents the Delaware Public Health District in Delaware, Ohio, serving approximately 190,000 residents. She began her public health career at the Clark County Combined Health District in Springfield Ohio as the Director of Nursing and Personal Health for a population of approximately 140,000. In 2005, she was appointed as the Health Commissioner for the Champaign County Health District in Urban, Ohio serving a population of approximately 40,000 residents.
Ms. Hiddleson is currently the Central District Director for the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners, Ohio’s State Association of County and City Health Officials (SACCHO). She has served the association as a member at large, a district director, president elect, president, and past president over the past 16 years.

NACCHO is governed by a 20-member board consisting of local and tribal health officials who are elected by their peers, as well as one ex-officio member representing partner organizations.
As the governing body, NACCHO’s Board of Directors establishes the association’s strategic direction and initiatives, sets the annual legislative agenda, approves official policy statements, ensures that annual goals are met, and provides financial oversight. The Board is NACCHO’s public face and represents members in matters of policy, public health practice, and collaboration with health partners in the public and private sectors.
